In this Suite, three pieces are presented.
Entrada is a solemn introduction in the key of D Major/B minor. Two themes are played by all groups.
Sarabande is a slow dance in 3/4. Starting on ostinato bassline, the piece uses variations on the main theme and gives the whole orchestra the opportunity to play the main role.
Rondeau is a happy Allegro dance in the rondo-form. A canonic theme in the key of G Major is used. This piece is an opportunity to develop the first position in the different basic tonalities, and the use of legato, staccato and détaché bowings.
Little Dance Suite is a great concertpiece and an easy introduction to the baroque dance suites.
